Stadtreinigung Hamburg AöR (Hamburg waste management) is Hamburg’s largest service provider in the waste management sector. It operates as a full-service provider with its approximately 2,500 employees working for public, commercial and private clients and is responsible for the collection of non-recyclable, organic and domestic waste for around 900,000 households.

Project

Stadtreinigung Hamburg AöR has a rapidly growing, central data warehouse that ties up a large amount of resources due to its development, maintenance and administration. Partial automation was achieved using a proprietary software solution that can no longer be used past the end of the contract with the previous supplier.

adesso supported Stadtreinigung Hamburg AöR with a comprehensive consultation service for the optimisation of development and administration processes. Furthermore, the existing software solution was replaced by an easily expandable framework based on an open source platform.

Result

A structured development and an optimised procedure for the provision of development artefacts significantly reduced the expense and effort needed for maintenance, administration and development and created a stable environment for the implementation of new requirements. Stadtreinigung Hamburg AöR is no longer bound to proprietary software suppliers thanks to the use of open source components.
